It holds the greatest biodiversity of wildlife including the tree climbing lions, buffaloes, leopards, elephants,hippos, a variety of antelope species and primates including chimpanzees in Kyambura gorge, monkeys and baboons. In this park, you will also take an exciting launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel and a visit to Kyambura gorge for chimpanzee tracking.

Depart Kampala and drive west, with a stopover at the Equator for photos, through volcanic formations of the Western Rift Valley towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The descent reveals a stunning panorama of Lakes George and Edward amidst game-filled plains. You will have a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch and then proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive in the late afternoon, have evening relaxation after a long journey but also in preparation for the activities the following day. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

This day starts with packed breakfast as you go for a game drive offering the chance to view Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-systems of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters, home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. The game drive in this park, with the massive Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop, provides an excellent opportunity to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, African buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda kob, and bushbuck. You will then drive back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for a unique 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. The trip passes through possibly the highest hippo concentration in Africa and many mammals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. Keep an eye open for the enormous water monitor lizard, as well as crocodiles. The cruise offers an excellent platform for photography and game viewing. The bird life is colorful and abundant.

Return to Kampala

Have an early morning breakfast then drive back to Kampala with a stopover in Mbarara town for lunch .You will pass via Mpigi to see the Royal Drum Makers where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. You will arrive in Kampala in the evening and be dropped either at your hotel/home or Entebbe Airport for a return flight.

Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura gorge is an optional activity you can do on the last day before you return to Kampala but at an extra cost. visitors can climb through tropical forest and catch a glimpse of a variety of primates, including chimpanzee, black-and-white colobus. vervet and olive baboons are regularly observed in the gorge. For birdwatchers a good range of forest birds are present
