Our Commitment
At Terrace Uganda Safaris, we are committed to delivering authentic safari and travel experiences while protecting Uganda’s rich natural and cultural heritage. Our goal is to ensure that tourism benefits local communities, supports conservation, and provides meaningful, responsible experiences for our guests.
Community & Cultural Engagement
We want to contribute to the economic growth of communities around our tourism resources.
We give priority to booking accommodations that are eco, locally, and community-owned. We do local sourcing during our business operations. Our tour guides are 100% local, we support local restaurants for all stop-over meals and we encourage our guests to buy from local craft makers and markets.
Environment Responsibility
We endeavor to leave a low negative impact on the environment, protecting and preserving it for the benefit of future generations. We do this by using eco-friendly vehicles and encourage shared transport where possible.
During our business operations, we ensure to minimize the use of single-use plastics. We encourage our clients to come along with refilled water bottles as we only carry reusable water containers and not small plastic water bottles.
During most of our trips we promote a “Leave no trace principle”, we advise all our guests to make use of the rubbish bin in the vehicle and not litre.
We also have the grow a tree initiative. We select a destination and clients plant a tree during their trip.
Wildlife Conservation
We brief our clients on the set rules and regulations around the protected areas especially when safe wildlife viewing, zero tolerance to picking wild plants and trees, and anti-poaching policies as set by our tourism governing bodies.
We caution our tour guides on speed limits while driving through a protected area as well as give guidelines to our guests on how to behave when they sight or come into contact with these animals.
As a company, we discourage and do not sell wild hunting.
We believe wildlife has a right to live safely in its natural habitat and is not a trophy of some kind to any human being around the planet.
Guest Awareness & Education
We provide pre-trip briefings to all our guests on cultural etiquette, responsible travel, and environmental care. We encourage guests to contribute positively to communities through purchasing local goods from them such as crafts, hiring a porter during Gorilla trekking activities and supporting local initiatives.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Local Partnerships – We prioritize working with accommodations, lodges, and service providers that are locally owned and managed, ensuring that revenue Benefits local communities.
Fair Trade Products – We partner with companies that uphold Fair Trade standards, Promote ethical sourcing and support producers under fair conditions.
Sustainable Tours & Activities – We offer tours and excursions that are Environmentally responsible and respect local culture and heritage.
Supplier Engagement – Encourage suppliers and partners to adopt sustainable Practices, including waste reduction, responsible packaging, and fair labor conditions.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
We ensure that all the vehicles we use during our trip operations meet safety standards. We ensure that vehicles have a first aid box aid kit and our tour guides have received basic training from Red cross.
Our guests are provided with safe, clean drinking water. We provide our guests with refill water bottles/cups and they can use these to refill from the dispenser on board
We are also mindful about the healthy and safe work environments for staff both at office and on field. On field we have an agreement with accommodations to provide our drivers with safe accommodation and they charges us a minimal price.
